A heat pump or a gas furnace: the choice depends on your fuel, your ducts and your winters
Eastern Washington winters are cold and dry, with hard snaps that heating equipment has to be selected and sized for. A heat pump also cools the house in summer, so one outdoor unit covers both seasons. A gas furnace makes strong heat regardless of the outdoor temperature and pairs with a separate air conditioner. A-One also installs electric and oil furnaces.
The right choice depends on what you already have. A house with a gas line and sound ducts may keep a furnace and add efficient air conditioning. A house heated with electric resistance often has the most to gain from a heat pump. A dual fuel setup pairs a heat pump with a gas furnace as backup. Load, ducts and installation decide whether the new equipment heats the house evenly
Installation starts with a load calculation for the house, not a swap for the same size as the old unit. The tech measures the rooms, checks insulation and windows and looks at how the old system performed. Duct size, static pressure and the return path come next, because ducts built for an old, smaller blower can choke a modern variable speed unit. A-One uses duct leakage testing and blower door testing.
On the day, the crew sets the furnace or air handler level, connects and tests the gas line, venting and drain, and sets the outdoor unit on a pad. For a heat pump, the line set is flushed or replaced, the system is pressure tested, pulled to a deep vacuum and charged by measurement. The tech sets airflow and thermostat settings, including defrost and backup heat behavior, and walks you through the system before leaving.

Rebates, warranties and the first winter are part of the job
