Chapter 01
Repair stops making sense when age, refrigerant and repeat failures point the same way
A repair is the right call when one part has failed on an otherwise sound system. Replacement starts to make sense when several things line up: the compressor or coil has failed, the system is old enough that parts are hard to find, it runs on R-22 refrigerant that is no longer produced, or you have paid for a second and third repair over a few summers.
Rising bills matter as well. A unit that runs longer to hold the same temperature is working harder for the same cooling. A tech who is straight with you tells you what a repair costs against what it buys. A-One says it recommends replacement only when it is necessary, so if your system can be repaired, expect to hear that.

Sizing, ductwork and the install day decide how the new system performs
A new condenser and coil only work as well as the sizing behind them. A proper load calculation looks at the house, not just the old nameplate, because the old unit may have been too big or too small from day one. The tech checks the ductwork, the static pressure and the return path, since a system pushed through leaky or restrictive ducts never delivers its rated capacity. A-One uses duct leakage testing and blower door testing.
On install day the old equipment is removed and its refrigerant recovered. The new condenser is set level on a pad, the line set is flushed or replaced, and the system is pressure tested and pulled down to a deep vacuum before refrigerant goes in. Then it is charged by measurement, not by guess. The tech checks the thermostat wiring and the condensate drain, sets airflow and shows you how the system runs.

Warranty, registration and the first season are part of the install
As a Certified Amana Dealer, A-One provides a 10-year warranty on parts and labor for all new Amana systems, as well as a lifetime warranty on the compressor. That applies to new Amana systems only. Across its service work, A-One offers a 2-Year Warranty on all service parts, with an optional 10 Year warranty on parts and labor.
Manufacturer warranties usually depend on the equipment being registered, so ask the crew to confirm that is done. Through the first summer, watch how the system runs on your hottest days and tell the shop if rooms are uneven, the outdoor unit is loud or the system cycles too often. Ask about rebates through Benton PUD, Benton REA and the City of Richland, and financing through Tri-Cities Credit Union and Numerica Credit Union, before you decide.
